What a wonderful surprise! On December 6, 2013 The Recording Academy announced their nominees for the 56th Grammy™ awards being held in Los Angeles January 26, 2014. We are very grateful to the voting members of the Academy and pleased to report that “Dockside Sessions” produced by George G. Receli garnered a nomination. Big congrats to our Zydeco Experience band, George, Dockside Studio and our very special guests!
A long time friend of Terrance’s and music industry veteran, George is a legendary drummer who is currently touring with Bob Dylan and whose credits include Grammy winning recordings with Bob Dylan, Keith Richards, Levon Helm, Willie Nelson and James Brown.
The Zydeco Experience band of Danny Williams, Keith Sonnier, Stan Chambers and former, long time guitarist Jose Alvarez, served as the groove foundation for this project. Special guests Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Shannon McNally and Marcella René Simien added their beautiful sounds-enhancing the vibe in a very special way. Steve and Wish Nails of Dockside Studio provided the beauty and recording tools that served as a warm and inviting home to come back to during this process. David Farrell master engineer finished it off with his incomparable skills. Also special thanks to Kerry and Tiffa Boutte. It’s a team sport – and we had the dream team on this one.
Many congrats to long time friend Zachary Richard for his nomination in this category as well. Always a gentlemen whom we love and respect. Also congrats to our brothers in Hot 8, Hawaiian group Kahulanui and Native American artist Joe Tohonnie, Jr. It’s an honor to be nominated alongside so many extraordinary artists.
Terrance wishes to dedicate this honor to his Mother, Ethel René Simien who passed away November 15, 2013 after a courageous 4o year battle with Rheumatoid Arthritis-a degenerative and very painful disease. She was his beacon of light and inspiration. Pictured here with 3 of her 4 children and cousin (Dwight) who were the center of her universe. Greg, Germaine and Terrance in 1969.
