Terrance’s Daughter, Marcella Launches Indie Go Go

As they say, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. As is the case with Terrance’s daughter Marcella, who just launched her IndieGoGo campaign this week.  She graduated this year with a BFA from Memphis College of Art. She began playing music, performing and jumping on the stage with her Dad as a baby. She was always comfortable there. Her normal her to being on tour with her Dad’s band opening for Dave Matthews Band or having David Hidalgo of Los Lobos over for gumbo and Taj Mahal sing her happy birthday on the Blues Cruise when she turned 18. Her parents insisted she graduate from college and she delivered. She began performing in Memphis while still in college. Things really ramped up after graduation and the Memphis music media and community really embraced herMany thanks to The Recording Academy, Arts Memphis, Memphis Ballet, Karen Carrier and all the smart music writers who have supported her on her journey.

“Simien is in the core of Memphis tradition…combining different roots influences in idiosyncratic and unexpected ways…[She is] one of the most interesting artists to emerge on the Memphis scene in years.” -Chris Herrington, The Memphis Flyer
